Excerpts
Chapter One: An Awakening
In chapter one, I begin the book by
sharing my personal near death experience. I go deep inside my
experience of the Light on the other side and I give you my personal
insights of a very deep near-death experience.
From Chapter One:
I was
suddenly no longer observing what was happening from inside my body.
I now found myself outside my body, maybe ten or fifteen yards in
the air. From here, I could look down and observe both her and my
body sitting on the beach. I was looking down from a bird's eye view
as a third person and it were as if I were a point of space of
infinite awareness.
The
sensation of being pulled from my body was overwhelmingly powerful.
I felt a deep explosion, like a volcanic eruption, pull my body
apart and dissolve the essence of what I once know as myself. I was
suddenly naked, exposed to everything is the entire universe, but at
the same time I was bathed in the transparent light of something so
powerful, so indescribable, all words fade and disappear.
It was
love. I melted together with a feeling of love a hundred or maybe a
thousand times stronger than anything I have ever felt in this
dimension: "This is truth--this is what it is!" In that moment I
knew the universe, "This is who I am--this is all there is!"
Chapter Two:
The Near-Death Experience
In Chapter two, I
go through the scientific evidence of near-death experiences.
Through this science of the afterlife, the chapter answers most of
the skeptical questions there is about near-death experiences. Based
on scientific proof and testimonies from near-death experiencers,
this chapter will give you confidence in life after death and go
through the core elements of a near death experience.
From Chapter Two:
So, the big questions for the skeptics is; how can people have clear
consciousness in a state of cardiac arrest with no brain activity
(flat EEG)? The best documented instance of this paradox is the case
of Pam Reynolds. In 1991, Reynolds was diagnosed with a brain tumor
and had to undergo a very complex surgery called "hypothermic
cardiac arrest." This is a procedure where the body temperature is
lowered, the heartbeat and breathing stopped, the blood drained from
the body, and the brain waves are totally flat.
From 11:05 am to 12:00 noon, Reynolds was clinically dead with flat
EEG during the operation and in this timeframe she had a near-death
experience.
Chapter Three:
Religion
In this chapter,
I go through the afterlife in all major religions in the world, from
ancient Shamanism to the religions of the East and reveal how all
this knowledge relates to the near-death experience. I explain how
the Resurrection of the Bible is not of the body but of the spirit
and reveals which paragraphs of the Bible actually tell us so in
plain language. The chapter shows where the Bible tells us exactly
what God is and reveals how this essence of being fits with all
other major religions and the evidence from the near death
experience. This essence is found within, and the chapter explains
how the near-death experience gives us direct evidence of this and
with it, it clears up some misconceptions of the Bible.
From Chapter
Three:
While John focuses on the need for the disciples to believe in the
name of Jesus, Thomas's gospel clearly directs the disciples to find
God for themselves, as they, too are sons of the father. In the
near-death experience we find evidence to support the view of
Thomas's Jesus that the father lives within us all. Kenneth Ring
calls this the experience of "being inwardly close to God," and he
explains that near-death experiences are more likely to shift in the
direction of "God is within." One account testifies that,
"Everything that exists has the essence of God within it," and
another tells us that, "I think that God is in everyone of us; we
are God."
Chapter
Four Philosophy:
In this chapter,
I look at how the near death experience can be explained through
philosophy. From Plato to modern philosophy, the essence of reality
is the ultimate truth revealed to us by the near-death experience as
a fish that leaps out of water to understand what it is. The chapter
also goes through Descartes path to the soul and guides you to the
center of your being through asking the question: Who am I?
From Chapter
Four:
The truth 'out there' which Penrose talks about is the objective
reality of the Platonic world. Plato's objective world consisted of
divine values of both ethical and aesthetic truth. These are called
Platonic values, and can be expressed by mathematical truth,
goodness, justice, equality, harmony, beauty, etc. ...
The
experience of "total knowledge" or "the answer to all the secrets of
the universe," give testimony to this, and we also find accounts
that testify to what Jung said: "If anyone asks if there is a God I
shall say yes, I have seen him."
Chapter Five: Science
This chapter
investigates how new science and Quantum Physics provide even more
scientific evidence of the near-death experience. Not only is there
scientific proof that everything is energy, but Quantum Mechanics
has already proven the Golden Rule through Quantum Entanglement and
advanced theories of extra dimensions are soon to be proven by
String Theory. This chapter is an exciting adventure to the new
frontiers of science.
From Chapter
Five:
The
proof of extra dimensions would most certainly transform the way we
see our universe, but already there are some interesting theories of
how it could be structured. One of them is called the Holographic
Universe, which, according to van Lommel’s theory, gives the
holographic life-review its information. The idea of a holographic
universe is not new since the idea is taken from Plato’s shadow
world in his cave allegory. This theory suggests that our physical
world, which we perceive to have three space dimensions, could
instead be ‘written’ on a two dimensional surface, as a hologram.
What is
interesting about the hologram theory is the way a hologram works.
In the same way that every small part of a hologram contains the
image of the whole, so too, does every part of the universe enfold
the entire universe as a whole.
PART II: Awakening
Chapter
Six: Who Am I?
The second part
of the book is a guide from death into eternal life. In chapter six,
I look deeper into the most essential question of enlightenment: Who
am I? The chapter reveals some of the most profound insights of
enlightenment from West to East and provides a simple and powerful
understanding of the concept. The chapter also holds a 3-step
meditation exercise to guide you into your own direct experience of
your true nature.
From Chapter Six:
Consciousness--to be aware--is the first state of being. It is our
first experience and that which exists before anything else. It is
the core of our existence and that which exists before anything
else. Knowing this center of our being is thereby the meaning center
of existence. ...
...This
would be a theory on how it is possible for the mind to leave the
body in the out-of-dimension experience. Consciousness is in and
around everything in the universe, and therefore, it can both be
experienced inside and outside the body.
Chapter
Seven: Leaving the Body
This chapter
deals with death and explains how we leave the body when we die. It
explains what the dissolution stages at the moment of death and what
the Awakening on the other side is like. The chapter will help you
overcome the fear of dying and reveal just how the profound nature
of the Light on the other side makes all sorrow go away in this
world and the next.
From Chapter
Seven:
As a loved one witnessing the painful death of a person, I believe
these testimonies can offer great comfort by understanding that the
light on the other side is all good--all love. What was pain will be
no more, an as the dying person, the light gives great hope and
meaning to death. Knowing that this is where we go when we die can
make us relax and concentrate on leaving this world in the best
manner. One account testifies that, "All my will was concentrated on
'going'. I never once thought of my husband of my children, who were
quite young then. It all seemed terribly personal, nothing to do
with anyone else."
Chapter
Eight: The Negative Life-Review
In this chapter,
I go through a universal understanding of what hell is that makes
sense to both reason and the research of near-death experiences.
From this profound investigation of the negative life-review you
will gain an in depth understanding of what is behind the dogmatic
religious interpretation of hell.
From Chapter
Eight:
What
we have now found is that hell is a hidden and concealed place. This
fits with the Greek underworld Hades, which has the same meaning,
"Unseen." And this brings us back to Plato's cave again where we
can use the allegory to explain what hell is. Living inside the cave
as our body, we live in a dark world of illusion made from
the shadows of our ignorance.
Outside the cave is a powerful revelation, and we are blinded by it.
We have been used to the darkness for so long that the true light of
existence is too much for our eyes. The true nature of reality
outside the cave is beyond our comprehension, and we are totally
overwhelmed in total humility.
Chapter
Nine: The Golden Rule
After having gone
through hell, this chapter now explains why the negative life-review
happens and more importantly what the true nature of reality is.
This chapter will reveal how the Golden Rule is a law of the
universe through our interconnectedness, that we are required to
align ourselves with. The life-review is the ultimate teaching tool
and this chapter reveals what the true purpose of life is.
From Chapter
Nine:
This is
truly what it is--it is all love. But when I say love, I do not mean
merely the kind of love that we can measure and quantify. I mean an
unconditional LOVE beyond our comprehension, as infinite as the size
of the universe.
The
evidence of quantum entanglement in science tells us that all things
are interconnected. This interconnectedness means that the universe
receives the consequences of our actions, and therefore, our actions
have implications and effects. The Golden Rule as a universal law of
balance teaches us this basic principle of life through the
life-review, and the near-death experience testifies that this could
very well be the basic law of how the universe works.
We
already know the Golden Rule from religion, and now in our time,
thousands people come back from their meetings with the light and
confirm our beliefs. One near-death experiencer came back with this
heartfelt message from the light:
"I wish everyone
could have one [a near-death experience]--it would change the world!
Everyone would understand each other, and there wouldn't be
conflict, and there wouldn't be chaos, and there wouldn't be greed
and war...The life review is the ultimate teaching tool."
Chapter Ten: The World
Having seen the
Light and experienced the true nature of reality, this chapter takes
a look at our world and all the problems we face in it. It looks at
religious fundamentalism and the use of fear as a weapon of control,
and more importantly, it shows how we can get out of this ignorance.
From Chapter Ten:
We
have seen plenty of abuse of power that has led us into the massive
conflict we are in today. When we allow the killing of innocent
people by believing our end is justifying our means, we are
forgetting that this power comes from God alone. Telling ourselves
that God is on our side and that God would permit the killing of the
innocent is only a game of shadows inside our dark cave.
It is
not God that leads us to these actions, but our own fear of the
darkness. Because we are afraid of the dark, we fear our own shadow
whereby we label it “evil.” This is also how Douglas finishes her
argument. It is our fear of evil which makes us kill in the name of
purity, and this fear kills others because of our own fear of dying.
The only way to overcome this fear is a voluntary embrace of death
that is “a protection, not against death but against madness.”
Chapter
Eleven: Final Liberation
Now, in the final
chapter, you should be ready for the "ultimate lessons of the
Light." This chapter, reveals how to enter the light when we die.
Based on the research of near-death experience and drawing parallels
to all the major religions, this chapter reveals how to get out of
Hell and into Heaven.
From Chapter
Eleven:
The
true nature of reality is love, and thereby God's love is always
there with us even behind our own creation of hell. So, to get out
of hell, all we have to do is remember this and think of love. This
is also what we learn from the near-death experience where the love
and compassion of the light is always present behind whatever we
might project in it. The homecoming of feeling absolute love, peace,
and joy is the essence of the light that lies at the heart of the
experience. This is the secret that will make hell flee from us...
...Therefore, from a Buddhist perspective our consciousness should
be free of either a positive or negative influence from the
life-review. Both my life-review and preview took me out of the
light, so my experience fits with the understanding that the mind
needs to be clear and empty without images or projections. The state
of the mind in which to recognize the light is described as
“self-contained in its own nature like water poured into water, just
as it is, loose, open and relaxed.” In this state, by knowing our
true nature, we can hold on to the light: “When the light arises,
hold that thought” because “one is instantly liberated by the mere
understanding of the identification.”
